Open letter regarding JBS COVID- 19 employee infections
Updated: May 20, 2020

"We encourage all community members to wear a mask in public, continue to practice excellent hygiene, wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available, and we encourage the most vulnerable to stay at home, if possible."
After a forced closure on April 10, 2020, due to a number of employees falling ill and seven deaths from COVID-19, the JBS Beef Plant in Greeley, Colorado was given a two-week period to sanitize the facility and to allow JBS employees to self-quarantine. On that same date, JBS officials promised that all employees would be tested before returning to work. The facility reopened on April 24th and to date, not all employees have been tested which creates substantial and ongoing risk for not just JBS employees, but their families, and every person within the Weld County Community.
